Harvest Moon Festival

I’m long overdue blogging about this wonderful community event at Urban Oaks Organic Farm in New Britain, Connecticut.

This amazing farm is near and dear to my heart and does much to beautify their urban environment, to educate its community members and to make fresh, organic produce accessible to all. However, on this day, their goal transcended good food and education. At this, the first annual Harvest Moon Festival, Urban Oaks set out to bring together the community to celebrate our connections to each other, to the season and to the harvest.

As always, the farm stand was open and overflowing with delicious fresh organic produce, plus everyone enjoyed sampling from some of our favorite local vendors – including “Boxed Goods” and “Chet’s Italian Ice”!  The farm was buzzing with activity all day long, and was rocking well into the evening to the music of Dog Star Blue!

While I’m always grateful to Farmer Mike for the incredible produce that he grows year-round, on this day I was reminded of how much more Urban Oaks does to nourish this community. Special thanks to all who participated for making this such a magical day at the farm!

Saw you on 700 Club and was blessed and interested. Hoping to find a place in my area at least similar to Urban Oaks. They must be a HUGE blessing to the area. Have been making changes in our eating habits for many months now, so I am very interested in what you have learned and are practicing; want to try the recipes offered at CBN’s site and get your book. I too have inherited high bad cholesterol and do not want to take medication. Working to get it down naturally. Thank you for your work and your help and may the LORD JESUS bless you with much success!!

    Holy hugs!
