The Art of Thanks

“Clean Food has been my go-to source for recipes ever since I received the book almost three years ago.” Holly the Healthyeverythingtarian

Emailed comments like the one above make me take pause and give thanks for the opportunity to do this work, and for the inspiration and nourishment that comes from this amazing clean food community. With Thanksgiving just days away, I thank each and every one of you for sharing this journey with me and for making my life so rich as a result.

Just a few days ago, I nearly fell off my chair when Holly (the Healthyeverythingtarian) posted this picture on Twitter. I can’t thank her enough for allowing me to share it and her clean food story here on my blog.

“When my graphic design teacher assigned our class the task of remaking a cookbook cover in an artistic and unusual way, I knew immediately I wanted to use Clean Food. Because Clean Food is such a great source of natural, from-the-earth foods, I wanted to incorporate that organic feel in the book cover and decided to cover the jacket in a variety of grains and seeds. Using a mixture of red quinoa, millet and flaxseed, I hand-designed the Clean Food type in a classic, script font and added flourishes of faux grain on the actual cover. I added a bookmark made from a clip that’s covered in flaxseeds and faux grain – it also keeps the book open quite nicely!”

“My journey to clean eating has been exactly that – a journey. As a healthy food blogger, freelance writer and soon-to-be-graphic designer, I find myself drawn to food in many different ways. Eating cleanly and healthily is an ever-progressing journey that has given me the energy and fuel to enjoy and appreciate life each and every day. Clean Food has been a part of that, so in many ways, this book cover is a thank you for that.”

Thank you Holly and all for giving me so much to be grateful for. I hope you’ll share what you’re thankful for this holiday season, too. All who do will be entered for a chance to win a copy of the newly revised CLEAN FOOD! Winners will be announced December 4th. Until then, may this Thanksgiving find you blessed with good friends, good health and delicious clean food.

Eat clean live well!

This year, and every year, I am thankful for the openness, curiosity and compassion my family have for my eating choices. Ever since I was in fourth grade, when I decided to give up red meat, my family have not criticized or ostracized me.(I know many people whose families do this!) Instead, they embrace my difference in opinion, sometimes even LOVING the delicious, vegan foods I bring to the table. (Literally) Without the love and support of my family, I would not have grown to be the woman I am today.

It is so important to take the time to be grateful for all the things that is part of our lives. All the goods and the not so goods too. Everything happens for a reason and every situation in life is an opportunity to grow. I’m really grateful for that. I try to appreciate every single moment in my life.

I’m also grateful for all the support I receive from my surrounding in difficult moments, especially from my wonderful husband. It is really appreciated.

I’m also grateful for this opportunity to get a chance to win a wonderful cookbook such as Clean Food. I also really appreciate all your recipe sharing on the internet.

    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you so much Terry! And of course, I must comment by saying I am thankful for my health and the health of my loved ones. Lately, I’ve known a lot of people who have passed away suddenly, so I am grateful for that gift and to get to spend time with my family and friends this holiday.

I’m thankful for gratitude. Sounds a bit circular, I know, but lately I’ve realized that there is nothing like a few contemplative moments spent thinking about all the abundance I’ve experienced in my life -the material abundance of enough good healthy food to eat and a place as well as to live the riches of love, joy and fulfillment that I enjoy – to get me out of any funk I’m in.

Oh, and I’m thankful for blogs like yours and Holly’s for inspiration!

I am thankful for the healing power of time and real food. I am grateful for the ability to turn grief into inspiration and use our life experiences to serve others. And I am so thankful to have Clean eating resources to share with others who are just beginning their journey to heal themselves with real, wholesome, clean food. Thank You!
