Dec 4

Thanksgiving may have come and gone, but my kitchen continues to buzz with activity as I create seasonal recipes both old and new! It figures that ever since the closing of our local cider mill just days after the holiday, all I can think about are apples and apple cider. So, in memory of the Avon Cider Mill I’m sharing one of the new recipes in the revised edition of CLEAN FOOD – my quick, easy and delicious Apple Tart. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does!

Today is also the close of my CLEAN FOOD giveaway. Congratulations to winner Ashley Rossi, and my thanks to all for sharing their inspiring comments around Thanksgiving. I look forward to our sharing more in the holiday season… and in the new year… to come!

Eat Clean Live Well!

I have recently watched the documentary “Forks over Knives” and have decided to commit to a plant based diet. I have spent the entire evening reading every recipe in the winter section of your “Clean Food” book. I am excited to try them all, I only hope I can find some of the somewhat obscure ingredients.

My question is are the recipes stand alone meals or should several recipes be put together to form a complete meal? Do you have any subjected menus published that I could follow ? If so where can they be found.

    Thanks, happy cooking.

    Hi Stephen,

Sometimes I’ll have a single recipe for a meal (like my tofu kale lasagna, goodness soup or Three Sisters Pot Pie) and other times I combine them (a quinoa recipe, with one for sautéed greens and maybe one of the roasted root veggie or squash recipes). If you make your goal to eat a rainbow of color and all 5 tastes each day, that can help guide you. I don’t currently have menus published, but it’s a great suggestion and I think I’ll add that piece in my next book!

Wishing you much delicious clean food and nourishment in your plant-based journey.

PS: You should be able to find all of my ingredients at either your local conventional grocery store, your natural food grocer or a Whole Foods Market.
